Finding Your Purpose And Passion

Your Purpose And Passion

"I can't seem to figure out why I'm here."

“What am I doing here for?” I'm sure there's something I'm supposed to be doing, but I'm not sure how to figure it out."

"I don't appear to care about anything."

People around me have repeatedly expressed their dissatisfaction with this situation.

It is critical to our happiness and well-being that we discover our passion and purpose. The issue is that many people have lost touch with their feeling of passion and purpose and do not know how to reclaim it.

Our fundamental Self, our essence, the true Self that is often buried during our early years, contains the blueprint for this information. Our true Self is likely to have gone underground if it was not noticed and validated by our parents, teachers, or other caregivers. Many of us refer to our "self" as our wounded self, our ego, or the self we built to attract love and avoid pain. Our wounded self contains all of our anxieties and erroneous beliefs, and it is unable to access what is true for us.

So, how do we find our passion and purpose if the blueprint for this information has been buried for a long time? The good news is that it is not lost, even though it is buried. Anyone who is prepared to undergo the inner work of repairing their injured self can retrieve this knowledge.

In our society, we often overlook our unique abilities and choose occupations based on what would provide us with a sense of security. What makes us feel comfortable, however, does not always gratify us spiritually.  For example Nelson, worked as an attorney for many years but never enjoyed it. He was wealthy, but he was experiencing worry and sadness. Because his father was an attorney and wanted Nelson to follow in his shoes, he became an attorney. Nelson had gone along with his father's wishes because he didn't know what else he wanted, and now he was unhappy in his forties. He desired to find his calling.

While it may not always be able to quickly change jobs to something you enjoy, following your passion will usually bring you there. Even if you have to work in a job that does not allow you to express yourself, you can find volunteer opportunities and hobbies that allow you to do so. Frequently, these will lead to the task that you will accomplish in the future.

Your spirit longs for you to express yourself in ways that make you happy. It's up to you to figure out what that is and how to make it happen.
